Born from a heart for every forgotten child in the unreached corners of the world, the International Children's Network (ICN) began it's choir program in 2008 with the first US tour of the Matsiko Children's Choir. This choir was the first step toward bringing children together from the various countries in which ICN provides sponsorship. After the choir's resounding success, the Matsiko World Orphan Choir was created in 2012 with children from Peru and Liberia, who shared their lives and culture through song and dance, and connected their hearts with audiences across the United States. In 2014, children from India were granted permission to travel with Matsiko, and in 2017, Nepal children joined. The choir continues annually with new children auditioning and performing every year. Other children from partnering nations will be added, so be on the lookout!
Matsiko has been called "The greatest ambassador for our world's 600 million orphaned and at-risk children" by US Senators and Congress people. Many people have called Matsiko, "The greatest children's choir" and Disneyland actually called the choir, "Our world's treasure"! The choir shares their vision of hope with appearances at professional sporting events, universities, schools, churches, festivals and retirement homes. Whether you meet them in your hometown, or hear them on the radio or TV, Matsiko is truly a force for good that impacts many of our most vulnerable children all around the world!
25 children from Peru, Liberia, India, and Nepal are currently touring the US as a part of the Matsiko World Orphan Choir. Our choirs have performed across the country in school assemblies, retirement homes, multicultural events, festivals, churches, markets and malls, corporate headquarters, and even professional sporting events, sharing a message of hope for the world’s 600 million orphaned and at-risk children. Matsiko shares their personal testimonies while performing energetic and dynamic cultural dances in full vibrant costumes and singing primarily original songs. You will be blown away by the Matsiko children and amazed at their gifted and extremely inspirational performances. A Matsiko performance is a multicultural event that has been deemed a “world treasure” on the Disneyland Parks Blog.
We would love to introduce the Matsiko World Orphan Choir to you and your organization! Seeing the choir is truly a life changing experience! There is no set charge for a Matsiko performance; however, we do have a table of handmade items from the children's countries and choir memorabilia that we set up at each venue. 100 % of the proceeds from the sale of these items goes directly to fund the tour, as well as to fund special projects in the children's countries.
Please look through the promotional material below to find out more about booking a Matsiko performance. Contact us at bookthechoir@icnchildren.net for more information or to bring Matsiko to a venue near you!
Host families are responsible for providing meals (breakfasts, sack lunches and some dinners) and a place to sleep (NOT a bed for each person - the children will share beds with each other or sleep on air mattresses, couches or even blankets on the floor.) The choir spends their days together, so we also ask that host families bring the children and chaperones to a central location each morning and pick them up again each evening when possible. It is as easy as that!
If you are interested in housing 3-4 children and a chaperone in your area, please look through the documents below, and then email us for more information. If you are interested in being a housing coordinator in your area and finding other families to house please email us at bookthechoir@icnchildren.net!
